Univision 34 Prepares for its 40th Anniversary Broadcast of the 2004 Tournament of Roses Parade

Los Angeles, CA -- Celebrating 40 years broadcasting the world’s most watched parade, Univision 34 KMEX-TV, the leading Spanish-language television station in the country, is well under way with its preparations to ring in a new year presenting the pageantry of 115th Tournament of Roses Parade, live from Pasadena on Thursday, January 1, 2004.  Univision 34 will be at this year’s floral extravaganza themed “Music, Music, Music”, offering Spanish-speaking viewers more surprises, better vantage points and plenty of fun with its three-time Emmy Award winning coverage of this global New Year’s Day tradition nationwide through the Univision Network.

Scheduled Programs

Univision 34 will produce and air four special programs related to the Rose Parade in the coming weeks, leading up to the spectacular event on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2004.

· “En Busca de la Música con Univisión 34” [In Search of the Music with Univision 34] Saturday, December 27th from 10-11 a.m. Pacific Time on Univision 34. Hosted by the Univision 34 news team, they all go on a special assignment in search of the music which has mysteriously disappeared from many of Los Angeles’ landmark locations. The program will also highlight different attractions from the 2004 Rose Parade.

· "Noticias Univisión 34: Primera Edición, Edición Desfile de las Rosas 2004"  [Univision 34 News: First Edition, 2004 Rose Parade Edition] Thursday, January 1st from 5-7 a.m.  Pacific Time on Univision 34. Join “Noticias Univision 34: Primera Edición” news team as they broacast live from Pasadena with the first news broadcast of the year! The team will give viewers insight of many of the surprises leading up to the highly anticipated event on New Year’s morning as well as focus on the latest weather and traffic along the parade route.

· “Desfile de las Rosas 2004: Conteo Final” [Pre Parade Countdown Show] Thursday, January 1 from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m.   Pacific Time on Univision 34 KMEX-TV and nationally on the Univision Network.  Karla Martinez from Univision’s Control, Univision 34 news anchor Rolando Nichols will host this year’s parade countdown that will feature lots of musical entertainment and plenty of surprises. Guests include Univision Radio’s Eddie "Piolin" Sotelo, Omar Velasco and Argelia Atilano.  Musical appearances by Colombian pop sensation Cabas, children’s group Los Solecitos, and Grammy nominated Banda Hip-Hop duo, Akwid.

· “Desfile de las Rosas 2004” [2004 Tournament of Roses Parade] Thursday, January 1, 2003, 8-10:30 a.m., without commercial interruptions.  Pacific Time on Univision 34 and nationally on the Univision Network. Serving as hosts for this spectacular event will be Karla Martinez (from Univision’s Control) and Univision 34 news anchor Rolando Nichols.  The station’s coverage will feature over one dozen camera angles along the parade route, including a couple of surprises during the parade that will travel down Orange Grove and Colorado Blvds.
