Univision 23 and Papa John’s Pizza Join Forces and Launch “Un Maestro Especial” to Recognize Outstanding South Florida Teachers

Miami, FL -- Teachers are the primary and most influential persons in children’s lives after their parents. They are the backbone of our society’s future. With this thought in mind, Univision and Papa John’s Pizza are joining forces to recognize and commend South Florida teachers for their dedication and their labor of love.

Univision’s/Papa John’s Pizza “Un Maestro Especial” (A Special Teacher), will recognize, honor and reward outstanding teachers in our community. In conjunction with the Miami Dade and Broward County public schools, Univision 23 will highlight a special teacher every month and Papa John’s Pizza will present a gift certificate to each winning teacher in the amount of $1000, from December 2002 thru June 2003.  The selected teachers in the “Un Maestro Especial” public service effort will be profiled in Univision’s Miami Ahora and Al Amanecer  programming, as well as through an on-air public  service campaign. The effort will conclude with a special yearly award luncheon for all winning teachers, sponsored by Papa John’s Pizza. Univision embraces education as its main public service initiative in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Education.
