It’s a Hot Week for Boxing Fans on Telefutura

The Network’s premier boxing show, Sólo Boxeo, celebrates its 100th episode with two spectacular boxing matches


Miami, FL -- Hispanic sports enthusiasts all over the nation have a lot to look forward to this week on TeleFutura, the newest 24-hour Spanish-language broadcast network from Univision Communications Inc. (NYSE: UVN).  Next Friday, October 18, 2002,  “Sólo Boxeo” airs its 100th show and will heat up the week with two exclusive boxing events.

Main Event : 10 Rounds - Featherweight
Bobby Boy Velardez, from San Bernardino, California vs. Manuel Sepeda, from Austin, Texas.
Velardez has a record of 23 wins, 4 losses and 1 draw (6 wins by KO); Sepeda brings 15 wins, 5 losses and 2 draws (5 wins by KO)

Note: Bobby Boy Velardez is ranked #7 by the International Boxing Federation. He’s coming from an impressive victory, by unanimous decision, over Edel Ruiz on 8-23-02 in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Co-Main Event : 10 Rounds - Bantamweight
Heriberto Ruiz, from Los Mochis, Mexico vs. Oscar Andrade, from Durango, Mexico
Ruiz has a record of 26 wins, 1 loss and 2 draws (13 wins by KO); Andrade’s record is 28 wins, 22 losses and 1 draw (16 wins by KO).

Note: Ruiz is now ranked #2 by the World Boxing Organization. After only one defeat on 8-20-00 against Mauricio Pastrana, he has six straight victories behind him. Andrade, a very experienced boxer, is a 2-time world title challenger, former NABF Light Flyweight Champion, former NABA Flyweight Champion & NABF Super Flyweight Champion.
