Jorge Ramos, Co-Anchor of Noticiero Univision, Honored with the Prestigious Ronald H. Brown Award
Miami, FL -- Jorge Ramos, seven-time Emmy award-winning news co-anchor for Noticiero Univision (Univision’s National News), was honored last week by the National Child Labor Committee (NCLC) with its 2002 Ronald H. Brown Award. This award memorializes Ronald Brown’s Chairmanship of the NCLC and his work on behalf of children and youth. Jorge Ramos, a well-respected public figure and distinguished journalist, was acknowledged by the NCLC for his success in overcoming poverty, discrimination and prejudice in his lifetime and his use of his celebrity status to help young people do the same.
The award was presented on Monday, November 18, 2002 at the Museum of Television & Radio in New York City in conjunction with the NCLC’s Lewis Hine Awards for unheralded service to children and youth.
Jorge Ramos is one of the most respected journalists in the United States and in the 13 Latin American countries where his newscast is seen every night. He is considered one of the most influential Hispanics in the United States and he is the author of five books, including his most recent “No Borders; A Journalist’s Search for Home.”
