Univision Connects with Government & Health Organizations to Offer Free Spanish-Language H1N1 Information and Resources

New York, NY -- Univision Communications Inc., the nation’s leading Spanish-language media company, today announced it is working with government and health organizations in the country to help provide free Spanish-language information and resources on the H1N1 virus as part of the “Salud es Vida ˇEntérate!” (Lead a Healthy Life, Get the Facts) campaign. The most complete and up-to-date information about the H1N1 virus is now available at Univision.com (keyword: Gripe) to provide a one-stop-source for individuals, families and local organizations looking to inform and protect the community from the H1N1 virus, especially as the fall flu season arrives.

Univision.com is providing access to information from the following organizations:

• World Health Organization

In addition, the website will include information for the most vulnerable, including on how to keep children safe, especially in schools, precautions for pregnant women, tips on how to prevent the H1N1 virus and a list of symptoms and guidelines to identify the virus. News stories and segments such as “Al Punto’s” (To the Point) feature with Dr. Felipe Lobelo, Centers for Disease Control & Prevention and Dr. Elmer Huerta, expert in Public Health will also be available on the site as well as, educational vignettes featuring Univision Network’s medical correspondent Dr. Aliza Lifshitz.

According to a study in Chicago that offers one of the first looks at how the virus has affected different racial groups, the H1N1 virus was four times more likely to send African Americans and Hispanics to the hospital than non-Hispanic whites.
