Univision 41’s Martinez, Ayala, Roland & Singing Star Jimena Ride In September 17 Mexican Day Parade On Madison Ave.
New York, NY -- “Noticias Univision 41 al Despertar” (Univision 41 News at Dawn) anchor Antonio Martinez, “Noticias Univision 41” senior correspondent Myriam Ayala, “Noticias Univision 41” reporter Alex Roland, and Univision music singing star Jimena (Jimena Sinalas) will ride the Univision 41 float down Madison Avenue in Manhattan in the Mexican Day Parade, Sunday, September 17, beginning at noon. The parade will run from East 41 Street to East 27 Street. “Noticias Univision 41 Al Despertar,” where Martinez is co-anchor with Merijoel Duran, is seen weekdays 5 am to 7 am on Univision 41 (WXTV), New York’s premier Spanish-language TV station. The three Univision 41 News personalities are very apt choices to appear in a parade celebrating the immigrant contribution to the US. Martinez is a native of Mexico who is now awaiting US citizenship. Ayala is the most senior of all Univision 41 field reporters. She joined the station in 1983. Alex Roland, a native of Colombia, is in the US on a grant of political asylum. Roland nearly became the poster boy for police harassment of Hispanics when a local police officer in New Jersey detained him for his immigration status using outdated information during a traffic stop. It happened on December 18, 2003. Roland was on his way to work at Channel 41. Singing star Jimena is a native of Mexico City. Further information about New York’s Mexican Day Parade can be had by phone from the Mexican Civic Committee, 718-472-4657.
