Cristina Saralegui Inducted Into Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame
Unanimous selection honors one of Spanish-language television’s pioneers
New York, NY -- Cristina Saralegui, host of Univision’s top-rated “The Cristina Show,” was inducted last night into the Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame, which each year honors those who have made significant contributions to the electronic arts. During a black-tie ceremony held at New York’s Waldorf Astoria Hotel, Cristina joined some of the television industry’s most important figures after being unanimously selected to the prestigious group. “This honor is especially gratifying for me,” said Saralegui after her induction. “It’s a clear recognition of the growth and importance of Spanish-language television in this country. I’m just so proud to have been a part of it.” A winner of 11 EMMY® awards, Cristina Saralegui made her television debut in 1989, as host and executive producer of “The Cristina Show" on Univision, the nation's leading Spanish-language television network. Her talk show immediately attracted millions of viewers and after 16 years on the air and more than 3,000 shows, “The Cristina Show” is still the #1 U.S.-produced talk show on Spanish-language television in America. “The Cristina Show” airs Monday nights at 10 PM (ET) on the Univision Network. “We are extremely proud that Cristina began her television career on Univision,” remarked Alina Falcon, Executive Vice President and Operating Manager of the Univision Network. “She’s been part of the Univision family for more than 16 years, now. During that time she has touched viewers’ hearts by covering themes and subjects of special interest to Hispanic viewers living in the U.S. with her truly unique style and sensitivity.” The Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame was established 15 years ago to honor professionals in all reaches of Radio, Television, Cable and Satellite who have been the pioneers, innovators and stars of the media.
