KDTV Univision 14 Unveils New Website Providing Local News and Resources for the Hispanic Community

San Francisco-San Jose, CA -- KDTV Univision 14, the Bay Area’s leading Spanish-language TV station, has launched a local Spanish-language website, featuring local news and resources for the Bay Area Hispanic community.  The website, www.univision.com / keyword: San Francisco, is designed not only to showcase the station’s Noticias 14 newscast and other local programming, but to offer culturally relevant information, such as immigration updates and voting procedures.  As a subsidiary of the #1 portal among U.S. Hispanics, www.univision.com, KDTV’s local channel was developed in response to the increasing need to provide cultural information and bridge the digital divide in the Latino community.

“More and more Latinos are getting online everyday.  In an increasingly web-driven marketplace, it was important that KDTV establish a local online presence.  We are very proud to be part of the Univision Online family, which has established itself as a leader among Latinos since its inception.  A local presence was the anticipated next step, and we are excited to be the first Univision station to launch their local site,” said Marcela Medina, vice-president and general manager for KDTV.

In addition to news and sports headlines and a section to check the local weather, the site features important immigration information such as specific deadlines and  contact numbers for government and community agencies.  It lists community and KDTV-sponsored events and other community resources.  Visitors will find a community organizations directory.

With an average 75% share of viewers in key target audience groups, KDTV Univision 14 is the dominant station among Hispanics throughout the Bay Area.  The station beats all other stations, English or Spanish, in every daypart among advertisers’ most heavily sought-after Hispanic demos.  KDTV’s Emmy-award winning newscast, Noticias 14,  is also the leading source of news for Bay Area Hispanics, including the local San Jose market.    KFSF TeleFutura 66, which launched in January 2002, is also quickly becoming a favorite station among local viewers.
