Don Francisco Presents “Mi Homenaje a la Musica Norteña”/ a Tribute to Norteño Music

International television personality releases first album for a good cause

Woodland Hills, CA -- Mario Kreutzberger “Don Francisco”, international television personality, presents a unique music project accompanied by eight of the leading Norteño music recording artists in the world in a collector’s edition CD/DVD combo package.  The album was released simultaneously in the U.S. and Mexico on November 2, 2004, and subsequently in his native Chile, and the rest of Latin America.

“Don Francisco” is one of Spanish television’s most recognized personalities, known by millions of television viewers in the U.S. and around the globe for his weekly variety show “Sábado Gigante”, which is transmitted to 28 countries and according to the Guinness World Record Book, is the longest-running television show in any language worldwide. The talented and charismatic television icon is also seen on a second variety talk show in the United States “Don Francisco Presenta.”  Both TV shows air on the Univision Network, making “Don Francisco” the most popular and most viewed TV personality in Latin television in the United States.

This new project is a true labor of love for the multifaceted Don Francisco, who collaborates as a gifted writer and vocalist in an innovative and unparalleled production that includes some of the most important and influential recording artists in the Latin music industry, such as:

• Los Tigres del Norte
• Conjunto Primavera
• Bronco “El Gigante De América”
• Graciela Beltrán
• Los Huracanes del Norte
• Jenni Rivera
• Polo Urias
• Raza Obrera
• Diego Martinez
• And of course, Don Francisco, who sings as a soloist in four tracks, and joins in duets the guest artists in the rest of the album.

The album is comprised of 13 tracks that explore the various themes and styles of Norteño music within the Regional Mexican context.  Most of the songs are performed by some of the genre’s top brass international recording legends, which have been pioneers in the development and international proliferation of Norteño music worldwide.  It’s in this spirit of cooperation that Don Francisco brought together this selective group of iconic figures of Norteño music to assist him in creating a distinguished tribute to this music genre.

A Charitable Cause:

A percentage of the earnings of the album sales will be donated to a charity organization that holds a very special place in Don Francisco’s heart, Casa del Migrante, a non-profit organization in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico.  Casa del Migrante offers temporary shelter, food, clothes and related social services to men that have been deported from the United States and that are homeless, as well as injured migrants on their way to “El Norte” (The North- U.S.), or on their way home to Mexico, or any other part of Latin America. Casa del Migrante has been in operation since 1987 and has a small staff that depends on the assistance of several volunteers, which help serve the temporary guests that come through their door.

“Centro Madre Assunta,” a sister organization, offers similar services to migrant women and children (or the spouses and children of migrants).  El Centro Madre Assunta will also benefit from the revenue generated by the sales of this unique and thoughtful CD/DVD combo.

For the first time ever in the Latin music industry a specific video/DVD has been filmed to cover the topic of migrants and their struggles, as well as personal experiences and details of the artists that participate in this one-of-a-kind project.  Don Francisco travels to Tijuana to visit both organizations and spends a few days with the migrants and their families.  The video is a journey to the strategic spots along the border where migrants watch in hopes of finding the right moment to cross the border to the “promised land of the North,” a place in which they dream of fulfilling their hopes of obtaining a good job, and a safe place to raise a healthy and happy family.

In addition, the DVD/Video transports fans to San Jose, California with international renowned Norteño legend Los Tigres del Norte and later to Monterrey, Mexico, considered by many as the home of Norteño music.  Here he visits several artists and they explore their personal experiences as immigrants during their trips between the U.S. and Mexico.  The DVD is a fascinating mix of musical performances and visual images of the migrant experience, which also includes a brief introduction about the project and the artists that participate in it.
